Karen: Today, my guest is Adan Franco, the famous pro bull rider turned wrangler from Falling for a Devoted Cowgirl. Thanks for joining us.
Adan: Hey, I thought you were gonna write a book called “Falling for the Famous Cowboy”?
Karen: Naw. I named it after the Vargas in the story. Can you tell us about your role at Vargas Guest Ranch and Resort?
Adan: [puffs cheeks and blows out the air] Let’s see. I’m a wrangler and primary tour guide for all trail rides. Dylan and I run the equine therapy program, and a charity called Braden’s Hope, inspired by my nephew. He’s a double amputee. Derin has me leading Bible studies for the male athletes that rehab at the sports complex. And I do pretty much anything else Solana or Renata Vargas ask me to do.
Karen: That sounds like a lot. Last week, we met your close friend, Solana Vargas and she mentioned you danced with her at Candi and Drake’s wedding. Is there anything going on between you two?
Adan: We’ve been friends for going on five years now. I first got to know her when we helped remodel my sister’s house to make it wheelchair accessible for my nephew. Solana is funny and a wonderful friend. She helps everyone on the ranch.
Karen: Including you?
Adan: Yeah. I just found out some shocking news and need to head to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Not only did Lanni talk me off the ledge, she also volunteered to go with me to help. That’s just how she is. Always ready to do anything for a friend.
Karen: Lanni?
Adan: [face turns red] That’s Solana’s nickname.
Karen: I see. Are you sure there’s nothing between you?
Adan: Okay. So, I do like her. A lot, actually. But the thing is, I’m a decade older than her. And that shocking news I mentioned? I just can’t see her being interested in me now if she wasn’t before all that.
Karen: When did you first notice her?
Adan: During the remodeling of my sister’s house. That’s five years ago. We seemed to have a connection. Now? We can pick up in the middle of a conversation without missing a beat. I probably talk to her at least once or twice a day. Sometimes I even go into the resort office just to chat with her for a few minutes. We even have this running joke… Um. Never mind.
Karen: So, you still think you’re just friends?
Adan: Yup. No doubt about that.
